I actually really love the hyper-stylized anatomy in Crystal.
I love the giraffe legs. I love the big chunky feet. I love the spindly super-articulated needle-point fingers. I love the sharp corners that their elbows and knees and wrists create.
They look like giants. They look like they could crush mortals under their feet. They aren’t soft, round, childlike moeblobs. They’re here to fuck shit up.

Odera Redesigns the Cast of Sailor Moon~!

"We are the Sailor Scouts, champions of Love & Justice.
On behalf of the Moon & intersectionality, we will not stand for your misogynoir.
And in the name of the Moon, we shall dismantle your patriarchy (also known as punish you)~!”
*cue Sailor Moon 2014 Theme by Destiny’s Child, Janelle Monae, Solange, Erykah Badu, Santigold, Azealia Banks, and FKA Twigs. Featuring a sample of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much” and Ghost Town DJs’ “My Boo”
*sung to the beat of My Boo*~~At moonlight I think of you/I’ll be your Sailor Scout my baby/If your starseeds gone, give me a call boo/I’ll transform for you, because I am Sailor Moon~!*
I’ve been working on redesigning the cast of Sailor Moon on and off since last year (in August I believe?). Sailor Moon is
possiblydefinitely the most inspiring show/comic/media from my childhood (sorry X-men and Final Fantasy). For a little ol’ qpoc child, it taught me lessons about love, hope, sisterhood, and the power of queerness. It planted and nurtured the seeds of feminism and intersectionality and all that good-good inside of me. But throughout all those years I never once created fanart.
I remember seeing stills from Beyonce’s Mrs. Carter Tour and thought, Wow. She looks like a superhero or Sailor Scout. And something just clicked, and I knew I wanted to tackle on some SM fanart. So I thought to myself, if I had full reign and creative control what would my version of Sailor Moon look like? And the answer? A cast of diverse magical girls/ladies/womyn from the afrodiaspora who capture the spirit of the original senshi but with my own spin/perspective/fantasy.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I do~! Feel free to share, comment, reblog, etc. If you are a fan of these images be sure to follow me for new exciting projects! (I’m all Sailor Moon’d out, at least until Crystal comes out…but I’m always sneaking magical girl realness into my work) And don’t forget to buy prints or phone cases if that’s your fancy (I also can make tote bags and mugs and other strange things on society6 if there is a demand. So hit me up until my HP hits critical status if that interests you~!!)
Peace and love and all that is transformative,
WOOOO!!! I still can’t believe this is happening! So many dreams coming true in one announcement!

Hey guys, I know this is quite overdue, but there is now a free PDF download available of MOON POWER! Sorry it took me so long to get around to, but now it is here. It’s free and in my Gumroad shop right now, alongside some of my comics which are ALSO free!
The zine features stunning art by over 40 illustrators such as Barbara Tarr, Andrea Kalfas, Kali Ciesemier, Natasha Allegri, Joanna Krotka, Sloane Leong, Aleks Sennwald and so many other super amazing individuals.
I hope y’all will reblog and share this, as I know there are so many people that wanted to get the zine and were unable to. It is seriously beautiful, all the work is just incredible.
Once again, thanks for your support. <3
Hey guys, since it’s FCBD, save some free comics! The MOON POWER zine is free to download along with some of my other comics on my Gumroad account.

Niconico seems pretty vague overall on what we can expect on whether or not you’ll have to pay for timeshift/watch availability. It doesn’t sound like you have to pay for premium, and then they have that disclaimer I quoted. Hopefully everything will be cleared up soon! I’m expecting an official post about it on the Official Sailor Moon website in about a month or so. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. D:
You don’t have to pay for timeshifting, I’ve had a free account for years (before they had an English version) and have timeshifted many of their livestreams (not their anime streams, but idol concerts and stuff) and I was always able to do it.
I’m going to be 100% honest with everyone and tell you I know very little about the Niconico service other than what I’ve read on wikipedia, read on the website, and read in posts by other moonies. Some posts are saying you will be able to watch for free, but after looking at Niconico’s website, it seems like people watching for free at the time SM: Crystal will be released, might not have access (or might have poor streaming quality, etc) because of the ridiculous amount of people who will be paying and tuning in. I’m assuming SM: Crystal will be available to watch for free on Niconico after it airs either immediately or a week or two later. Again, I’ve never used Niconico, just other popular streaming sites like Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, etc. Of course, SM: Crystal will popup on illegal streaming sites, but if you can afford to pay $5/month ($2.50/episode), you will be greatly helping the possibility of a second season!
Also, I know I mentioned “America” a lot in this post, but you can replace that with any country (excluding Japan). Just most of my followers are American (as well as myself). Please, don’t feel like I’m excluding your country!
Actually, I am making it a priority to help people understand why paying that measly 5$ to watch the anime on the legal website, at the time of airing, is crucial to the series. And so I take this opportunity to say it again: if you want this to carry on after the initial 26 episodes, don’t be cheap. Don’t expect everything to be free, just because it’s online and because yes, the episode will probably be available on torrent sites immediately after it airs… If you download the episode on a torrent site or watch it on a free streaming website different from NicoNico, you are lowering the rating/view-count on the OFFICIAL website, and so your viewership does NOT count. Watch it for free after it airs, if you must… but again, even if it’s without premium membership, watch it on NicoNico, where it’s meant to be watched and where the number of views is officially counted.
The Sailor Moon anime has a history of almost being cancelled because of low ratings. After the first season, Toei were about to sack the anime. But then the Moon Stick toy sold way beyond their expectations and they realized they might have something with the potential of a gold-mine on their hands, and they reconsidered cancelling Sailor Moon… And now we have this little toy to thank for the worldwide phenomenon that is SM.
In conclusion: don’t underestimate these things. Don’t just think “oh, it doesn’t matter if I watch it legally or not, it’s Sailor Moon and they have to keep going with it!”. This is a business after all. It’s not pro bono work. Nobody will invest time and money to produce an anime that people don’t seem to have an interest in. Or at least enough interest to bother making a NN account. Don’t be that person.
for $5 for the 1st and third saturday .. they better have an app and other shows for me to watch
Thought I’d address this since I saw a lot of people freaking out about how they will fit all of the arcs in 26 episodes. The first 26 episodes will strictly cover the first arc of the manga. This is stated on the official website as well as on the pamphlet recently released. So no Outer Senshi this season. Sorry guys!! Hopefully somewhere down the road…
I personally view 26 episodes as the ideal length for the first season. We need 5 episodes alone just to discover each Senshi. That leaves 21 episodes for plot and character development. Sounds good to me!!
Yeah, it’d be nice to cop Sailor Moon in this tightened up release as oppose to sifting through hours and episodes of filler trying to get to the good shit.
